Dada Mail » Pat Birnie/WILPF List » Archives » Fw: Scoping Comments due Monday (Rosemont Mine)
Dear Friends of the Santa Ritas,
Only 3 days left! Don't forget to make your final comments by July 14, 2008 on the proposed Rosemont Mine. Many of you have already made thoughtful and important comments at the Forest Service meetings and those are greatly appreciated! There are several ways that you can still make comments including:
A toll-free Rosemont Mine Comment Line that allows anyone to call and have their oral comment electronically recorded. This recorded comment will then be transcribed and added to the official “scoping” record for development of an environmental impact statement for the proposed copper mine 30 miles southeast of Tucson. The toll free Rosemont Mine Comment Line number is 888-726-7176.
Those who use the Comment Line should be aware that their comments, as well as any personal contact information stated in their comment, may be made public. In addition, each caller’s telephone number will be electronically documented by the automated recording system. Comments made using the Rosemont Comment Line are limited to three minutes duration, and will be given equal consideration to comments made at public hearings or submitted in writing.
Written comments may be submitted by mail, FAX, or email as follows:
• Mail comments to Proposed Rosemont Copper Project, Coronado National Forest, 300 W. Congress St., Tucson, Arizona 85701
• FAX comments to (520) 388–8305, ATTN: Proposed Rosemont Copper Project
• Or email to comments-southwestern-coronado@fs.fed.us. (Please type “Rosemont” in the subject line.)
Comments are welcome during the National Environmental Policy Act review until the draft Environmental Impact Statement is issued for public review (currently scheduled for March, 2009); however, comments will be most useful if received during the public scoping period, which ends July 14, 2008.
Participants are urged to read the Notice of Intent prior to making oral or written comments. The Notice of Intent is available online at www.fs.fed.us/r3/coronado/rosemont. Those without Internet access may request a hard copy by calling 520-388-8300.The comments most useful for the EIS process should be directly related to issues associated with the proposed action described in the Notice of Intent, rather than general advocacy for or opposition against the project.
For questions about how to comment, the public is invited to call 520-388-8300.
Additional information about the proposed Rosemont Copper Project is available online at www.fs.fed.us/r3/coronado/rosemont.
Thank you for your participation in this process. If you have questions during the last days of this comment period for SSSR, please email info@scenicsantaritas.org or check our website at www.scenicsantaritas.org... the answer you are looking for may be there also.
Thanks!
